Sonic architecture, sports center, swimming pools access threshold, public space
Apnea is a sound installation realized at the NEI sports center in Monza, commissioned by Monza Biennale 2019. The spatialized audio piece was diffused within the architectural structure of the gym during sports activities, with continuous cycles and moments of arrest controlled freely by the public passing by. Sound samples were digitally processed together with recorded physical gestures by two performers. The installation included environmental speakers designed for audio diffusion in public spaces.
Body movements, spatial recordings, underwater sonics (performers Aurora Persico and Sara Mennella)
